Quick Onion Confit
A quick onion confit features sweet and tart caramelized onions, seasoned with herbs and balsamic vinegar, perfect for spreading on bread or serving with steak.

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté onions and demerara sugar, stirring frequently, until tender and golden.

Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and thyme; stir. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven.

Bake for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onions are wilted, soft, and medium golden.

Stir in the vinegar during the final 5 minutes of baking.

Remove from oven, cool to room temperature in the pan, then serve.
