Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté onions and demerara sugar, stirring frequently, until tender and golden.

  3. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and thyme; stir. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven.

  4. Bake for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onions are wilted, soft, and medium golden.

  5. Stir in the vinegar during the final 5 minutes of baking.

  6. Remove from oven, cool to room temperature in the pan, then serve.
