Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F and prepare cookie sheets with parchment paper or by greasing them.

  2. Combine sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle half of the mixture onto your work surface.

  3. Place dough on the cinnamon sugar, press lightly, and roll out slightly. Brush the dough with 2 tablespoons melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, reserving a small amount.

  4. Roll up each short side of the dough towards the center until they meet. Refrigerate the dough for 30-40 minutes until firm.

  5. Cut the chilled roll into 16 slices. Arrange slices cut-side down, 2 inches apart, on prepared cookie sheets. Press each slice to 1/4-inch thickness.

  6. Pinch the bottom of each slice to form a heart shape. Drizzle the hearts with the remaining 1 tablespoon melted butter and sprinkle with the reserved cinnamon sugar.

  7. Bake for 8-13 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely on a wire rack and store in an airtight container.
