Polish Potato, Cabbage, and Bacon Casserole

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F.

  2. In a large ovenproof skillet, sauté diced bacon until crisp, then remove and set aside, leaving the fat in the pan.

  3. Add onion and cabbage to the skillet; cook for 20 minutes until the cabbage has collapsed.

  4. Stir in the drained potatoes, salt, pepper, cream, and reserved bacon, then remove from heat.

  5. Sprinkle cheese over the casserole, cover tightly, and bake for 35 minutes.

  6. Uncover and bake for an additional 10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and golden, and the potatoes are tender.
