Polish Plum Nalewka Cordial Recipe

An aged Polish plum cordial, known as nalewka or sliwowka, is crafted using Damson plums for a rich, fruity flavor.

Instructions

  1. Place plums in a gallon jar.

  2. In a saucepan, gently warm half the vodka with cinnamon and cloves over low heat, dissolve the sugar, then cool the mixture to room temperature.

  3. Pour the cooled vodka over the plums in the jar, add the remaining vodka, and seal tightly.

  4. Age the cordial for three months; for a richer fruit flavor if made in summer, extend the infusion until Christmas Eve.

  5. Strain the nalewka and serve in cordial glasses.
