Polish Plum Cake (Placek z Sliwkami)
A lightly sweet, fruit-forward Polish plum cake, adaptable with other fruits like nectarines or peaches, makes for a delightful dessert.

Instructions

Preheat oven to 3500F and coat a 13x9-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and 3/4 cup sugar.

Add room-temperature butter, milk, and eggs; beat with a hand mixer at medium speed for 4 minutes until combined.

Pour batter into the prepared pan and arrange plum halves cut-side up, pressing them slightly into the batter.

Combine 1/4 cup sugar and cloves with 3 tablespoons cold butter, cutting until crumbs form.

Sprinkle these crumbs over the plums.

Bake for approximately 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan to absorb plum juices.

Optionally, sprinkle with confectioners' sugar, then cut into 12 squares.
