Combine cinnamon sticks, sugar, and 1/2 cup water in a medium saucepan.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 10 minutes until the mixture becomes syrupy and golden.

Whisk in the remaining 2 cups of water.

Add the pears to the syrup and gently simmer over medium-low heat for 8 to 10 minutes, turning frequently, until the pears are just tender when pricked with a knife.

Allow the pears to cool completely in the syrup, turning occasionally.

Carefully lift the cooled pears from the pan and serve with two scoops of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
