Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F and grease an 8-inch cast-iron skillet or a 6-inch/7-inch round cake pan.

  2. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

  3. In a medium bowl, thoroughly whisk melted butter with brown and granulated sugar.

  4. Whisk in the egg and vanilla until smooth.

  5. Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and stir until blended.

  6. Fold chocolate chips into the batter.

  7. Spread the dough evenly in the prepared pan.

  8. Bake for 21 to 24 minutes until lightly browned and firm in the center.

  9. Cool slightly on a rack, then serve warm with ice cream and optional topping.
