In a skillet, heat olive oil, then sauté 1/2 cup chopped onion for 3 minutes; add 1 minced garlic clove and cook for 1 minute.

In a bowl, combine 1 1/2 pounds ground beef, 1/2 cup ketchup, 1/2 cup breadcrumbs, 1 beaten egg, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, 3/4 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon pepper, 1/2 teaspoon oregano, and 1/2 teaspoon thyme; mix in the sautéed onion and garlic.
