Perfect Crispy Fried Tofu

Crispy fried tofu cubes, prepared in under 30 minutes, serve as a versatile topping for salads or pad Thai, or as a plant-based protein substitute.

Instructions

  1. Press one block of firm or extra-firm tofu for 10 minutes using paper towels and a weight.

  2. Slice the pressed tofu into 1/2-inch cubes.

  3. Toss the tofu cubes with 3 tablespoons nutritional yeast, 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper until coated.

  4. Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

  5. Add the coated tofu to the hot skillet and cook for 4 to 6 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy.
