Penne Pasta Bake With Tomatoes and Mozzarella Cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F (180 C).

  2. Butter a 2 1/2- to 3-quart baking dish.

  3. Start boiling salted water, then cook penne pasta according to package directions; drain.

  4. Heat olive oil in a saucepan, sauté onion until translucent (about 4 minutes), then add garlic and cook for 1 minute.

  5. Stir in tomatoes, basil, and oregano, then cook until heated through.

  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  7. Combine cooked penne, tomato sauce, and 1 cup mozzarella in a large bowl and stir well.

  8. Transfer mixture to the buttered baking dish.

  9. Top with the remaining 1 cup mozzarella.

  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly and cheese is melted.
