Penne Casserole With Ham and Peas

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F and grease a 3-quart baking dish.

  2. Cook pasta in salted boiling water as directed; drain and rinse.

  3. Melt 4 tablespoons butter in a saucepan. Sauté green onions, parsley, and garlic for 1 minute, then stir in flour and cook for another minute.

  4. Gradually stir in milk, cooking until thickened. Add ham and 2 cups shredded cheese, stirring until melted and bubbly.

  5. Combine the drained pasta and peas with the hot sauce, mixing thoroughly.

  6. Spoon the mixture into the baking dish and sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup cheddar cheese.

  7. Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons butter, toss with breadcrumbs, and sprinkle over the cheese layer.

  8. Bake for 30 minutes, or until crumbs are browned and the casserole is bubbly.
