Instructions

  1. Combine cream, milk, and sugar in a saucepan; heat over medium-low, stirring until sugar dissolves and mixture is hot.

  2. Temper egg yolks by whisking in 1 cup of the hot mixture, then return egg mixture to the saucepan, whisking constantly.

  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring continuously for about 6 minutes, until slightly thickened and it coats a spoon; do not boil.

  4. Strain into a bowl, stir in vanilla, and chill for about 1 hour until cold.

  5. Churn the ice cream mixture according to your ice cream maker's instructions and freeze.

  6. While ice cream chills, combine peanut butter, whipping cream, corn syrup, and brown sugar in a separate saucepan; heat over low, stirring until smooth and sugar dissolves.

  7. Transfer the peanut butter sauce to a bowl and chill thoroughly.

  8. Transfer churned ice cream to a container; dollop 3-4 spoonfuls of chilled peanut butter sauce over it.

  9. Lightly swirl the sauce with a knife to create ribbons.

  10. Cover and freeze until solid, about 1 hour. Serve as desired, optionally with extra warmed sauce.
