Peanut Butter Cake With Chocolate Frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F; grease and flour a 9x13x2-inch baking pan.

  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, salt, and baking soda.

  3. In a saucepan, heat butter, peanut butter, and milk until melted and well combined.

  4. Stir the hot peanut butter mixture into the dry ingredients.

  5. Whisk eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla together in a small bowl.

  6. Slowly beat the egg mixture into the peanut butter-flour mixture until smooth.

  7. Pour batter into the prepared pan.

  8. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean; cool on a rack.

  9. To prepare frosting, melt unsweetened chocolate over simmering water, then cool for 5 minutes.

  10. Combine the cooled chocolate with softened butter and vanilla.

  11. Gradually beat confectioners' sugar into the chocolate mixture on low speed.

  12. Increase mixer speed to medium, add milk, and beat until smooth and creamy.

  13. Spread frosting over the cooled cake, then slice and serve.
