Papaya Smoothie (Batida de Lechosa)

Peel, deseed, and coarsely chop 1 large ripe papaya.

Place the papaya chunks, 1/2 cup milk, 3 tablespoons lime juice, 1/2 teaspoon lime zest, 1/4 cup sugar, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1/2 cup crushed ice into a blender.

Blend on high speed for 20 to 30 seconds until smooth and thick.

Pour into glasses, garnish with lime wedges, and serve immediately.
