Palmeras de Hojaldre

These sweet and flaky scroll-like mini pastries, called Palmeras, are simple to make with puff pastry.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.

  2. Melt butter in a small saucepan.

  3. On a floured surface, roll out half of the puff pastry thinly.

  4. Brush the rolled pastry with melted butter, sprinkle generously with confectioners' sugar, and fold it in half twice.

  5. Repeat the butter-sugar-fold process an additional 2 to 3 times.

  6. Roll one edge of the pastry tightly towards the center, then roll the opposite edge until both meet.

  7. Sprinkle the rolled pastry with more confectioners' sugar.

  8. Cut the pastry into 1/3-inch thick pieces and arrange them flat on an ungreased cookie sheet, leaving space between each.

  9. Repeat steps 3 through 8 with the remaining half of the puff pastry.

  10. Bake on the center rack for 20 to 30 minutes, until the pastries are golden brown.

  11. Warm honey and drizzle over each palmera before serving.
