Oyster Dressing for Turkey

A well-seasoned oyster dressing perfect for a holiday feast, which can be prepared either within poultry or in a separate dish.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F if baking the dressing separately.

  2. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion and celery for 5 minutes.

  3. Stir in oysters, poultry seasoning, salt, pepper, and parsley; cook for 5 more minutes.

  4. Mix in breadcrumbs, 1/2 cup chicken broth, and beaten eggs. Blend thoroughly, adding more broth to moisten as needed. Adjust seasonings to taste.

  5. For poultry stuffing, loosely fill the cavity and ensure it reaches 165 F internal temperature when done.

  6. For separate baking, pack the mixture into a lightly greased shallow dish. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until it reaches 160 F.
