Overnight French Toast Recipe

An excellent make-ahead breakfast, this baked French toast allows the bread to soak overnight before baking, perfect for serving guests.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.

  2. Spread 1/4 cup butter in a large, shallow baking pan and arrange bread slices over it.

  3. Whisk eggs, milk, sugar, maple syrup, vanilla, and salt, then pour over the bread, ensuring all slices are thoroughly coated.

  4. Cover and refrigerate the pan overnight.

  5. Bake for 10 minutes, then flip the bread and continue baking until golden brown, about 5 to 8 minutes more.

  6. Transfer to a serving platter and, if desired, sprinkle with confectioners' sugar; serve immediately with syrup.
