Oven Braised Beef Short Ribs With Rice Recipe
A complete meal features browned beef short ribs baked with rice and vegetables, which are added midway through cooking.

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 325 F.

Brown seasoned short ribs in a heavy skillet for approximately 30 minutes, turning often.

Transfer the ribs to a large baking dish, cover, and bake for 1 hour.

In the same skillet, cook rice, onion, celery, and green bell pepper until the rice is lightly browned.

After 1 hour, remove ribs from the oven, drain, and set aside. Place the rice and vegetable mixture into the baking dish, then top with the ribs.

In a saucepan, combine beef base, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, 2 1/4 cups water, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, and 1/8 teaspoon pepper; bring to a boil.

Pour the hot liquid over the ribs, cover, and bake for 1 additional hour.
