Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 F.

  2. Spread diced bread on a baking sheet; bake for 10 minutes, shaking midway, until lightly golden. Let cool.

  3. Melt butter in a saucepan; sauté onion and celery until translucent, then let cool.

  4. In a large bowl, combine the cooled toasted bread, chopped herbs, cooled sautéed vegetables, and any nuts or fruit. Toss to combine.

  5. Gradually drizzle in stock, mixing until the bread is moistened but not soggy. Add egg and toss to coat all ingredients.
