Oven-Baked BBQ Ribs Recipe

An effective oven method yields tender, barbecued baby back ribs without needing a smoker.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 250 F and combine brown sugar, salt, paprika, pepper, chipotle, thyme, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper for the dry rub.

  2. Place each rib rack on its own large piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil and apply the dry rub, focusing on the meat side.

  3. Tightly wrap each rack in foil, then arrange them on a rimmed baking sheet.

  4. Bake for 2 hours until the ribs are cooked and tender.

  5. Remove the ribs from the oven, open the foil, and brush both sides generously with barbecue sauce.

  6. Increase the oven temperature to 350 F.

  7. Return the ribs to the oven and bake for another 30 to 45 minutes, brushing with more barbecue sauce every 15 minutes, until they are well-glazed and fork-tender.

  8. Allow the ribs to rest for 15 minutes before cutting and serving.

  9. Optionally, toss cut ribs in extra sauce.
