Instructions

  1. Warm milk and orange zest in a saucepan over low heat until steaming.

  2. While the milk warms, whisk egg yolks, sugar, flour, and cornstarch until smooth.

  3. Gradually whisk half of the steaming milk into the egg mixture.

  4. Return the combined mixture to the remaining hot milk, stirring continuously, and cook for 1-2 minutes until it reaches 170 F and becomes very thick.

  5. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla extract and Grand Marnier, then chill before filling pastries.
