Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.

  2. Combine warm water and yeast in a large bowl.

  3. Stir in orange juice, brown sugar, salt, butter, and orange zest.

  4. Mix in 2 1/2 cups of flour, then add more until the dough forms around the spoon.

  5. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 10 minutes until firm and smooth.

  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

  7. Punch down the dough and knead on a floured board for 5 minutes to remove air.

  8. Shape into a loaf, place in a greased 8x4-inch pan, cover, and let rise for 45 minutes or until doubled.

  9. Bake for 40 minutes until golden and hollow when tapped. Remove from pan and cool on a rack.
