Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F and grease and flour two 9-inch baking pans.

  2. Combine sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.

  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla, then whisk or mix with an electric mixer for 2 minutes on medium speed.

  4. Stir in boiling water until just combined.

  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.

  6. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
