Old-Fashioned Slow Cooker Beef Stew Recipe

Instructions

  1. In a food storage bag, combine 3/4 cup flour, 1 teaspoon paprika, and garlic powder, then add stew beef and toss to coat.

  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the coated beef, then transfer it to a slow cooker.

  3. Add the onion, garlic, stock, salt, lemon juice, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 teaspoon paprika, black pepper, bay leaves, carrots, and potatoes to the slow cooker.

  4. Cook on LOW for 7-9 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours, until beef and vegetables are tender.

  5. About 30 minutes before serving, combine 3 tablespoons flour with water to form a smooth paste.

  6. Stir the flour-water mixture into the slow cooker, set to high, and cook for 20-30 minutes until thickened.
