Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F (180 C / Gas 4) and prepare an 8- or 9-inch square baking pan by greasing and flouring it.

  2. Cream butter and sugar for 4-5 minutes until light and fluffy, then beat in the egg.

  3. Combine milk with 1 teaspoon vanilla. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder.

  4. Gradually add the flour mixture and vanilla milk to the creamed mixture in alternating portions, beating until the batter is smooth.

  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for approximately 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with minimal crumbs.

  6. For the chocolate sauce, melt semisweet chocolate chips with whipping cream over simmering water, stirring constantly. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.

  7. Drizzle the prepared sauce over the cooled pudding.
