Old-Fashioned Chocolate Nut Fudge Recipe

Instructions

  1. Line a 9x9 inch pan with foil and spray with nonstick spray.

  2. Combine sugar and water in a large saucepan over medium-high heat, then bring to a boil while stirring until the sugar dissolves.

  3. Boil for 1 minute, then stir in condensed milk.

  4. Insert a candy thermometer and cook the mixture to 235F, stirring often and wiping pan sides to prevent crystallization.

  5. Remove from heat and cool for 15 minutes without stirring.

  6. Add grated chocolate and stir to melt after 15 minutes.

  7. Vigorously beat the fudge until it thickens and loses its gloss.

  8. Quickly stir in nuts and pour into the prepared pan once the fudge thickens.

  9. Allow to set at room temperature for 3 hours or overnight; cut into 1-inch squares once firm.

  10. Store fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week, or refrigerate for up to two weeks; serve at room temperature.
