Old-Fashioned Chocolate Fudge

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9-inch square pan and line it with plastic wrap, leaving excess to cover the fudge.

  2. In a double boiler over simmering water, combine 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk, 12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips, 6 ounces milk chocolate chips, 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, and 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract.

  3. Stir until the chocolate mixture is completely melted and smooth; stir in nuts if desired.

  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan, spread evenly, cover with the plastic wrap ends, and chill in the refrigerator until firm.

  5. Lift the firm fudge from the pan, cut into small squares, and serve.
