Nutella Pastry Puffs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 F. Lightly flour a work surface and roll out thawed puff pastry dough to half its original thickness.

  2. Divide one sheet of puff pastry: cut one-third into two pieces, and the remaining two-thirds into four pieces.

  3. Whisk an egg and water in a small bowl to create an egg wash.

  4. Spread 1 tablespoon of chocolate-hazelnut spread on half of each pastry piece, leaving an edge. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of chopped hazelnuts over the spread. Brush egg wash on the pastry edges.

  5. Fold the pastry over the filling and pinch the edges closed with fingers or a fork.

  6. Brush the tops of all pastries with egg wash and sprinkle with granulated sugar.

  7. Make two slits in the top of each pastry. Place them on a parchment-lined cookie sheet.

  8. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until golden and puffed. Serve warm.
