Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  2. Add eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition, then stir in vanilla.

  3. Whisk together flour, cardamom, and salt in a separate bowl, then gradually incorporate into the wet ingredients until just combined.

  4. Mix in 6 tablespoons of water, adding more one tablespoon at a time if needed, until the batter resembles a thick cream sauce.

  5. Lightly grease a krumkake iron and heat it over medium to medium-high heat until a drop of water sizzles on the surface.

  6. Spoon a heaping tablespoon of batter onto the iron's center, close the iron, and gently squeeze handles to spread the batter.

  7. Bake for 30 seconds, flip the iron, and bake for an additional 30 seconds.

  8. Open the iron, immediately roll the hot cookie around a krumkake cone or spoon handle, then slide it off to cool on a rack.

  9. Repeat this process until all the batter is used.
