Instructions

  1. Start boiling 8 cups of water in a large pot.

  2. Sauté oil and onions in a small saucepan over medium heat for 5 minutes until soft.

  3. Stir in honey, chili powder, and cinnamon; sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.

  4. Add water, ketchup, hot sauce, Worcestershire, salt, and pepper; simmer for 10 to 15 minutes until bubbly and thick.

  5. Let the onion sauce cool in a covered container.

  6. Once water boils, add hot dogs and cook for 3 to 5 minutes until heated through.

  7. Spread mustard on buns, then top with a hot dog, onion sauce, and sauerkraut. Serve immediately.
