Mulling Spices for Apple Cider and Red Wine

Instructions

  1. Place cinnamon sticks and nutmeg into a heavy-duty freezer bag, seal, and crush into small pieces with a rolling pin or mallet.

  2. Transfer crushed spices to a bowl, then stir in orange peel, lemon peel, allspice, cloves, and crystallized ginger.

  3. Divide about 2 tablespoons of the spice mixture onto 5-inch double-layer cheesecloth squares or into single-serve tea filter bags.

  4. Securely tie each cloth with string, then use the packets to mull cider or wine.
