Muddled Cherries

Instructions

  1. Pit fresh or defrosted frozen cherries over a bowl to collect their juices.

  2. Sprinkle 1/2 cup sugar over the pitted cherries in the bowl, then mash with a fork or pestle.

  3. Cover the bowl and let sit for one hour.

  4. Mash the cherry mixture further until smooth, then taste and add additional sugar if desired.

  5. Use the muddled cherries immediately, or store covered and chilled for up to three days.
