Moroccan Chicken Tagine With Nigella Seeds (Black Seeds or Sanouj)

Instructions

  1. Pour olive oil into a tagine or wide pot; spread sliced onion over the bottom.

  2. In a bowl, toss chicken with chopped onion, garlic, ground nigella, whole nigella, and other spices. Arrange chicken bone-side down in the tagine center, distributing the remaining chopped onions around it.

  3. Add 1/3 cup water to the tagine after rinsing the spice bowl. Incorporate smen if using.

  4. Garnish with a cilantro bouquet, lemon, and olives, then proceed with the chosen cooking method.
