Moist Applesauce Meatloaf

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F and grease a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.

  2. In a large bowl, thoroughly combine both ground meats, onion, egg, applesauce, breadcrumbs, 3 tablespoons ketchup, salt, and pepper.

  3. Pat the mixture into the prepared loaf pan.

  4. Bake for 1 1/2 hours.

  5. If adding an optional topping, remove the meatloaf 10-15 minutes before it's done, drain excess grease, spread 4 tablespoons of ketchup or barbecue sauce over the top, then return to the oven to finish baking.

  6. Cool for 10 minutes, then transfer to a platter, slice, and serve.
