Mincemeat and Apple Tart - Now Meat Free!!

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 F (205 C / Gas 6).

  2. Roll out pastry to 1/4-inch (5 mm) thickness on a floured surface.

  3. Line an 8-inch (20 cm) greased tart tin with the pastry, then prick the base and chill for 15 minutes.

  4. Spread mincemeat evenly over the pastry base.

  5. Arrange apple slices in circles over the mincemeat, then sprinkle with sugar and dot with butter.

  6. Cover the pastry rim with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes, or until apples are golden.

  7. Remove the foil, gently press the apple slices into the mincemeat to coat, and return to the oven for another 10 minutes.

  8. Serve warm, accompanied by custard or brandy sauce.
