Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 F.

  2. Cream butter until light and fluffy, then beat in salt, almond, and vanilla extracts.

  3. Gradually blend in confectioners' sugar, then sifted flour.

  4. Chill dough for 1 hour.

  5. Shape dough into 3/4-inch rolls, then cut into 3/4-inch lengths.

  6. Place pieces on ungreased baking sheets, press lightly with a damp-cloth-covered glass, and sprinkle with sugar if desired.

  7. Bake for 10 minutes.
