Melt Away Butter Cookies

Cream butter until light and fluffy, then beat in salt, almond, and vanilla extracts.

Gradually blend in confectioners' sugar, then sifted flour.

Shape dough into 3/4-inch rolls, then cut into 3/4-inch lengths.

Place pieces on ungreased baking sheets, press lightly with a damp-cloth-covered glass, and sprinkle with sugar if desired.
