Meatballs With Beef and Sausage

Instructions

  1. Preheat your broiler, then prepare a foil-lined, lightly oiled baking pan, optionally with a rack.

  2. Combine 1 lb ground beef, 1/2 lb Italian sausage, 1/3 cup bread crumbs, 3 minced garlic cloves, 1 scant tsp salt, 1/8 tsp pepper, 1 tsp dried basil, 1 chopped onion, 1 beaten egg, and 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese, adding about 2 tbsp water to moisten.

  3. Shape the mixture into 1.5 to 2-inch diameter meatballs and arrange them in the prepared pan.

  4. Broil meatballs 8 inches from the heat for 10 minutes, then turn and broil for another 10 minutes.

  5. Transfer meatballs to a saucepan, cover with pasta sauce, and simmer for 20-30 minutes.

  6. Serve.
