Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.

  2. In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, sausage, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, eggs, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; mix well.

  3. Shape the mixture into 18 meatballs and arrange them on a foil-lined baking sheet with a rack.

  4. Bake meatballs for 30-35 minutes, until golden brown and an internal temperature of 165 F is reached.

  5. Meanwhile, heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Cook garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  6. Add crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and crushed red pepper flakes to the pan. Bring to a low boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  7. Transfer the baked meatballs to the sauce and coat them.

  8. Set the oven to broil. Place hoagie rolls on a foil-lined baking sheet, then fill each with 3 meatballs, sauce, and cheese.

  9. Broil sandwiches for 2-3 minutes, until the cheese melts. Serve immediately.
