Matzo Buttercrunch Toffee

A versatile matzo toffee treat, made with butter, sugar, chocolate, and optional nuts, is ideal for Passover or any time of year.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F and line a baking sheet with foil, then spray with nonstick cooking spray.

  2. Arrange matzo sheets on the prepared baking sheet, breaking pieces to fill gaps.

  3. In a saucepan, combine butter and brown sugar; stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves, then boil for 3 minutes.

  4. Pour the hot mixture over the matzo, spreading evenly with a spatula.

  5. Bake 10-12 minutes, rotating halfway, until golden; remove if edges darken.

  6. Immediately after baking, sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee, let sit 1-2 minutes, then spread melted chocolate evenly.

  7. Optionally, sprinkle nuts on top and gently press them into the wet chocolate.

  8. Refrigerate until firm, then break into pieces.
