Matcha Latte (Hot or Iced)

A simple homemade matcha latte recipe that rivals coffee shop quality, easily prepared with common kitchen tools.

Instructions

  1. Sift matcha powder and optional sugar into a small bowl.

  2. Add hot water and whisk until the powder dissolves into a thick paste.

  3. Warm milk in a saucepan over medium-low heat, whisking vigorously until frothy and steaming, or use a milk frother.

  4. Pour the frothed milk into a mug, using a spoon to hold back the top foam layer.

  5. Stir in most of the prepared matcha paste until the milk turns pale green.

  6. Spoon the reserved milk foam onto the latte, then drizzle any remaining thick matcha over the top.

  7. Gently swirl the top matcha into the foam and serve immediately.
