Instructions
-
Combine 1/4 cup vegetable oil, 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar, 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce, 1 tablespoon ketchup or tomato paste, 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard, 1 1/2 teaspoons minced garlic, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano, and a dash of crushed red pepper flakes.
-
Place a 1 1/2 to 2 pound top-round steak in a storage bag or nonreactive container, pour in the marinade, seal, and turn to coat. Refrigerate for 4 to 8 hours, flipping the bag periodically.
-
To cook, either preheat the broiler or preheat a grill to medium.
-
Remove the steak from the marinade, letting excess drip off.
-
If broiling, place the steak on a baking sheet on a rack 2 to 3 inches from the heat. Broil for 6 to 9 minutes per side.
-
If grilling, place the steak on the preheated grill. Cook for 5 to 10 minutes per side.
-
Remove the cooked steak, let it rest for 3 to 5 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.
