Maple Bacon Doughnut Bars
These soft doughnuts are a decadent treat, featuring a sweet maple frosting and crispy bacon bits for a delightful combination of flavors and textures.

Instructions

Soften yeast in lukewarm water.

Combine scalded milk, sugar, butter, and salt; cool until lukewarm.

In a stand mixer, mix the cooled milk mixture with 1 cup flour, softened yeast, and beaten egg.

Add the remaining flour and knead with a paddle attachment for 5 minutes until the dough is smooth.

Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.

Punch down the dough, then let it rise again for 30 minutes.

Divide dough into two balls, roll each into a 1/2-inch thick rectangle, and cut each into 6 smaller rectangles.

Separate the bars on parchment paper, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.

Heat oil in a large pot to 375 F.

Fry 2 bars at a time until brown on each side, then drain on paper towels and place on a cooling rack.

Whisk together all frosting ingredients.

Once the bars are completely cool, spread frosting over each and sprinkle with bacon.
