Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.

  2. In a large bowl, combine water and yeast, then mix in milk, sugar, salt, butter, garlic powder, and onion.

  3. Add 3 cups of flour, mix well, then incorporate additional flour until a spoon-following dough forms.

  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 4 minutes, adding flour as needed until it is soft and smooth.

  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning to coat, then cover and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled.

  6. Punch down the dough, then knead on a floured surface for 4 minutes to remove air bubbles.

  7. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased 9x5 bread pan.

  8. Cover and let rise in a warm spot for 45 minutes or until doubled in size.

  9. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.

  10. Remove the bread from the pan and cool on a rack.
