Macaroni and Cheese Casserole With Ground Beef Recipe

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F and butter a 2-quart baking dish.

  2. Boil salted water and cook macaroni as directed on the package; drain well.

  3. In a large saucepan, brown ground beef with onion, green pepper, garlic, butter, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and black pepper.

  4. Add a bay leaf and tomatoes to the beef, simmer for 20 minutes, then stir in 1 1/2 cups Cheddar cheese.

  5. Layer half the macaroni in the prepared dish, top with the meat mixture, then add the remaining macaroni, and sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup shredded cheese.

  6. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes.
