Loukoumades (Greek Doughnuts) Recipe
Greek doughnuts, known as Loukoumades, are deep-fried until golden and traditionally topped with a warm honey syrup and cinnamon.

Instructions

First, make the syrup by boiling sugar, honey, and 1 cup of water for 6 minutes; remove from heat but keep warm.

Dissolve yeast in 1 cup lukewarm water and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes.

Sift flour and salt together, then add the yeast mixture to the center.

Combine the mixture, gradually adding warm water until a soft, sticky dough forms.

Cover the dough with a clean, damp dishtowel and allow it to double in size.

Heat oil in a deep fryer or skillet.

Drop tablespoon-sized portions of batter into the hot oil.

Fry until the doughnuts float, become golden, and are puffy; remove them to drain on paper towels.

Arrange the doughnuts on a serving platter, then pour the warm syrup over them and sprinkle with cinnamon.
