In a large bowl, combine 2 beaten eggs, 1 packet dry onion soup mix, 3/4 cup water, and 1/3 cup ketchup; mix thoroughly.

Add 1 cup plain breadcrumbs and 2 pounds lean ground beef; mix well.

Shape the mixture into an oblong loaf and place it in a foil-lined baking dish.

Bake for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, until cooked through. Top with additional ketchup if desired. Cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
