Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. Whisk flour and baking powder in a medium bowl.

  3. Beat butter and cream cheese in a large bowl until light, then add sugar and beat until fluffy.

  4. Beat in the egg and lemon zest.

  5. Gradually incorporate the flour mixture, lemon juice, and lemon extract until just blended.

  6. Drop dough onto prepared sheets using a small scoop, spacing 1 1/2 inches apart.

  7. Dip a sugar-coated glass bottom into each dough mound to flatten slightly.

  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.

  9. While cookies bake, combine confectioners' sugar, lemon zest, and lemon juice in a medium bowl; stir until smooth.

  10. Transfer cookies to racks to cool slightly, then drizzle each with icing. Garnish with extra lemon zest if desired, and serve once icing sets.
