Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F (180 C) and grease a baking pan.

  2. Boil water, cook noodles per package directions, then drain and toss with 1 tablespoon of oil to prevent sticking.

  3. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat, continuously stir oil and sugar until a bubbly, liquid caramel forms.

  4. Immediately pour the hot caramel over the noodles, add salt and pepper, and stir until thoroughly blended.

  5. Let the mixture cool slightly, then beat in eggs one at a time.

  6. Pour the noodle mixture into the prepared pan and bake for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, until nicely browned.

  7. Remove the kugel from the pan immediately after baking; serve hot, warm, or cold.
