Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. Combine flour and yeast in a large bowl. Incorporate shortening, butter, eggs, and sour cream, mixing by hand until well combined. Form into a ball, wrap, and chill for at least 1 hour or overnight.

  3. Sprinkle a flat surface thickly with granulated sugar. Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into 3-inch circles. Place 1 tablespoon of filling in the center of each, then fold and pinch the edges to create either a half-moon or pinched shape. Arrange on prepared pans.

  4. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the edges begin to brown. Cool completely, then dust with confectioners' sugar and store tightly covered.
