Kansas City Rib Sauce

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a medium saucepan, then add garlic and cook for 20 seconds over medium-high heat.

  2. Stir in ketchup, water, cider vinegar, brown sugar, paprika, chili powder, and cayenne.

  3. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 13 to 15 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  4. Remove the sauce from heat and cool for 5 minutes.

  5. Before using, set aside a portion for serving as a table sauce.
